Teachers in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) and AP Computer Science A (CSA) classrooms must complete the Course Audit process with the College Board. If you have already completed the Course Audit in earlier years, you'll want to ensure CompuScholar is properly selected as your endorsed provider. The Course Audit is easy - read on to see how you can complete it in just a few minutes!
Updating Existing Course Audits to Select CompuScholar
If you are an experienced AP CSP or AP CSA teacher, you've likely completed the Course Audit in previous years. However, it's important to ensure CompuScholar is selected as your endorsed provider, especially if you've just switched over to our courses recently!
To check your endorsed provider, log into your teacher account at the College Board website. Then, from your main dashboard, click on the AP / Pre-AP Course Audit link. You'll see your existing, approved AP CSA and/or AP CSP panels as shown below.
- Hover over the book icon next to "Textbook Approved" and ensure it says "CompuScholar" as your endorsed provider resource.
- Verify the syllabus document number and click on "View Authorized Document" to ensure you see the familiar CompuScholar syllabus (the same document that's pinned to the top of your CompuScholar course).
If your Course Audit does not reflect CompuScholar as both the approved textbook and the authorized syllabus document, please ask your school or district AP Coordinator to update your registration to select CompuScholar. This isn't a step you can take yourself as a teacher, but your AP Coordinator should easily be able to make the update.
Updating your Course Audit to reflect your CompuScholar usage is important! The College Board sets minimum usage and growth goals for each endorsed provider. Be sure to proudly wave your CompuScholar flag to help keep the CompuScholar endorsement for years to come!
Completing Your First AP Audit as a New Teacher
If you've never completed an AP Course Audit before, the process is quick and easy when using CompuScholar as your endorsed provider! The two big reasons you'll need to complete the Course Audit are:
- You will gain access to AP Classroom and other excellent resources like practice tests published by the College Board.
- Schools can only mark a course as "AP" on a student's transcript if that course is taught by a teacher who has completed the Course Audit.
Here's a quick rundown of the audit process. We're going to assume you've already created your College Board teacher account. The screenshots show AP CSA, and AP CSP teachers will make similar selections.
- Log into your teacher account at the College Board website. Then, from your main dashboard, click on the AP / Pre-AP Course Audit link.
- Click "Add Course" from the main Course Audit page.
- Select either "AP Computer Science A" or "AP Computer Science Principles" from the pop-up panel, then "Continue".
- You'll see a new panel on your main Course Audit page for the course you selected. Click "Complete Course Audit Form".
- Carefully read all terms and check every box in the "I Agree" column.
- Under Textbook Selection, click "Select Textbook".
- Start typing "CompuScholar" in the search box, then select "AP Endorsed Provider Resource. CompuScholar ...".
- Verify the textbook selection says "CompuScholar".
- Complete the remainder of the form and submit it. You will return to the main Course Audit page, and your AP panel will now show "Textbook Approved". Click on the "Submit Course Document" link to select your pre-approved CompuScholar syllabus.
- Select the far right option, "Adopt Unit Guides, a Sample Syllabus, or Endorsed Provider Syllabus".
- Find the CompuScholar Sample Syllabus box and click the blue down arrow button.
- Click the "Submit & Download" button. You will get a download of the syllabus as a PDF - you can ignore that, as you already have access to this document from within your CompuScholar course.
- Return to the main Course Audit page and verify your panel now says "Waiting For Review."
That's it! The College Board should approve your Course Audit very quickly, usually on the same day.
When "Waiting for Review" changes to "Authorized", you're all set.
