CompuScholar 2020 Adoption

Digital Caravan Transcript

Welcome to the CompuScholar Digital Caravan presentation for the Idaho 2020 adoption cycle.

CompuScholar's online digital literacy and computer science courses have been reviewed and adopted in many states, including Idaho, and we look forward to working with your teachers and students.

All CompuScholar courses are delivered through an online Learning Management System and come complete with everything students and teachers need to be successful. Students will enjoy full-color instructional videos and lessons, automatically graded lesson quizzes and chapter tests and plenty of hands-on projects.

A teacher's guide is included with every lesson and contains objectives and suggested classroom discussion questions. Teachers will also have access to full answer keys for each quiz and test, and an electronic gradebook with complete control over student grades.

At CompuScholar, we know that computer science students learn best with hands-on activities, and our courses provide numerous coding opportunities. Each project comes with complete, step-by-step student instructions and all supporting resource files. Of course, we also provide activity solution guides and fully coded solution project files for teachers.

Teacher success is important to us, and every teacher will enjoy free technical support. We assign a dedicated Customer Service Rep to each teacher as a single point of contact throughout the year.

Teachers can also use our full reporting engine to measure classroom progress and take advantage of our free professional development and enrichment opportunities.

Three CompuScholar titles have been recommended as Comprehensive Resources for specific Idaho CTE courses. Our Web Design curriculum meets the needs of the Web Design and Development course. You can teach Programming and Software Development using either the Windows Programming with C# or our Java Programming titles. Districts may also wish to review our digital literacy, video game design and other computer science courses that are available for middle and high school students.

Our main website, located at compuscholar.com contains a variety of important information, including individual course descriptions, Idaho state standards, industry certification alignments, professional development opportunities, and our support portal. Let's look at our website now!

From our main page we'll click on the For Classrooms button. From the classrooms landing page, you can pull down the Courses menu option to see an Overview page. Scroll down a bit to see links to Web Design, Windows Programming with C#, Java Programming and other course description pages.

If you'd like to visit our Idaho alignments page, click on Standards and then State Alignments from the top menu. Then select Idaho in the state map. From this page, you can find alignment information on the recommended courses from this and recent state-wide adoption cycles.

If your district is interested in industry certifications for high school students, click on Standards and then Certifications from the top menu. This page lists a number of common industry exams and alignment documents that show how our course material meets these exam standards.

CompuScholar offers free Professional Development opportunities to teachers throughout the year. Click on Professional Development on the top menu and then Monthly Webinars to see a list of free recorded webinars on enrichment topics for computer science teachers.

Teachers may also want to take a CompuScholar course for personal growth. Select Professional Development and then Free Skill Building to reach our skill-building page. Teachers have opportunities to register for and take any CompuScholar course to learn new skills.

We are also pleased to support aspiring Computer Science teachers who want to pass the Praxis or Pearson Computer Science exams as part of a state certification process. Please contact us for more details.

Some districts may prefer their own LMS like Canvas or Schoology. We can integrate CompuScholars course material directly into those systems for a seamless experience. If you are interested in automatic rostering and Single Sign-On instead, check out our SSO pages on support for Clever, ClassLink and GG4L.

If you need to get help, start by clicking on the Support tab on the top menu. This will take you to our support portal where you can review our FAQ and knowledge base or open a support ticket for expert help.

Are you excited about CompuScholar and ready to get started? From our main website, click on the Get Started link on the top menu. This page allows teachers and district staff to register for a free review account, with full access to all available courses.

Once you are logged into our system with your review account, you can watch a series of getting started videos, view additional professional development modules and access review copies of each course. Be sure to check out the System Tour video inside the Professional development area.

When you are ready to purchase, individual teachers can go back to the main dashboard to create an instant quote for one school. We encourage CTE and textbook coordinators to contact us to discuss other licensing options for multiple schools.

Thank you for watching CompuScholar's digital caravan presentation! Please continue to our website and click on the Get Started link for your free review login. If you have additional questions, start a conversation by clicking on the Contact Us tab on the top menu or by calling our office at 866-604-2357.
